Time for another dram!
Aberlour 12 Year Old Double Cask
A delicious Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the Speyside region, Aberlour 12 Year Old has quite a lot of depth, a beautiful colour and a lot of richness to offer.
A bit About
Founded in 1879, Aberlour Distillery is located in the heart of Speyside. Their Single Malt Whiskies have won a decent amount of awards at International Spirit Competitions throughout the years and offer an interesting range including Single and Double Casks.
Double Matured - in American Oak and Sherry Oak Casks, the Aberlour 12-Year-Old has 40% ABV and a well-rounded feel to it.
Time to try it
With a bit of fresh apple slice on the nose and a lot more fruitiness in the taste with a bit of cinnamon and toffee, I found it to be a beautiful whisky to sip.
The medium-ish, slightly sweet and spicy finish, makes me think it would be perfect for the colder months of the year. Don't get me wrong, I've thoroughly enjoyed it in spring and summer as well, but the hint of charred wood just made me think it might be better suited then.
The Aberlour 12 Double Cask has, in my humble opinion, a lot of richness, and a medium body, with none of the sweet, maybe even syrupy flavours being too overpowering.

In Conclusion
I am generally a big fan of Single Malts, so I admit to being a bit biased. I think The Aberlour 12 is the sort of whisky I usually go back to when I'm looking for a medium /full-bodied dram.
As with most whiskies, I prefer this one neat or with a drop of water.
Priced around £45 in most UK online shops, I think it's very much worth its price. If you want to give this one a go, you can find it here.
