Llandudno is a North Wales seaside resort featuring a 19th Century Pier, a Nature Reserve and a Welsh Whisky Distillery.
Penderyn Llandudno Lloyd Street Distillery
The main reason I ended up in Llandudno was to visit Penderyn's Lloyd Street Distillery. This Welsh Whisky distillery opened in 2021, and, if you're as curious as I am about whisky, you can go on an hour-long distillery tour to learn more about their whisky-making process.
Llandudno Pier
After a highly enjoyable distillery visit, it was time to see what Llandudno has to offer, so ended up walking down the 2-mile-long Promenade towards the Pier.
The Victorian-era Pier was built in 1877 and has a fair amount of shops, arcades and cafes.
It offers a nice little walk, with great views, even when it's cloudier than you had hoped. for
Great Orme Walk (Country Park and Nature Reserve)
From the Pier, we decided to go for a walk along the coast for as long as we could, enjoying the fresh air, beautiful sea and ever-changing weather.
There is the option of getting a cable car/tramway to the hilltop, but, considering it was quite late in the day, we decided against it. The Great Orme Tramway runs between 10 am and 6 pm (or until 5 pm in March, October and November). For more info, please see their official website.
It was slowly getting darker and colder, so we headed back to the pier where we played some arcade games and enjoyed a few drinks at Ocean's bar - located at the end of the pier.
Overall, Llandudno was a good day trip, with nice walks in fresh air, great views and a few drams of delicious Welsh whisky.
If you happen to plan a trip to North Wales, I would recommend setting aside a day for Llandudno.
