A super easy and versatile green bean side dish, packed with flavour.
Fine Green Beans - Easy Recipe
You will need:
400g extra fine green beans
2 garlic cloves, crushed and chopped
1 medium red onion, diced
25g butter
1 tsp salt
1 tsp gochugaru/chilli flakes
1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper (black or rainbow pepper)
How to:
Melt the butter in a cast iron/nonstick pan
Add the onions and leave them to soften
Add the garlic and cook for a couple of minutes
Add the fine green beans and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally
Add 100-150 ml water * and cook for another 7-10 minutes, until the water has evaporated.
*If you like your green beans to be super crunchy, only add 100ml water and remove the pan from the stove after 7 minutes
*If you prefer the beans to be a bit more cooked through, add 150 ml water and cook them until all the water has fully evaporated from the pan
A good source of fibre and vitamins, and a highly delicious addition to any lunch or dinner.
Any leftovers last in the fridge for 1-2 days and can be reheated either in a pan or microwave.
Feel free to use olive oil instead of butter ( I prefer the buttery taste for this particular recipe)
You can blanche the green beans (or even boil them for 3-4 minutes) before you toss them in the pan with the onion, garlic, butter and spices but I prefer adding the water to the pan as it coats the beans better
You can keep the beans whole or chop them into bite-size pieces
The beans I usually find at my local shop have the ends already trimmed, if that's not the case for you, please make sure to trim them
