Time for another dram!
A super easy to drink Single Malt Scotch Whisky
A bit about
Produced by William Grand & Sons, The Glenfiddich 12 has won, throughout the years, numerous gold and silver awards at various spirits competitions such as the International Spirits Challenge, San Francisco World Spirits Competition and The Scotch Whisky Masters (The Spirits Business).
Matured in American and European oak casks, the Glenfiddich 12 has a beautiful golden colour and 40% ABV.
Time to try it
Nose: Sweet and fruity with the slightest hint of citrus and honey
Taste: Sweet, fresh, with a bit of malt, toffee and a small amount of sharpness and spice towards the end
Finish: Pleasant, quite long and mellow
The Glenfiddich 12 is a super easy-to-drink whisky with a light-medium body and delicate finish.
For me, it's quite a staple kind of whisky. It is highly versatile - enjoyable neat, with ice, water, mixers and great in cocktails.
Pros and Cons
For me, the Glenfiddich 12 is a lovely dram to enjoy with a drop of ice-cold water or even an ice cube.
Adding the water/ice tones down the bit of sharpness and makes it even more mellow and enjoyable. It also brings out vanilla and even more light fruitiness (apple and pear mainly), while toning down the sweetness.
If you're looking for an easy-to-drink, light and mellow whisky, this will most likely be exactly what you need. If you prefer peated or more full-bodied whiskies, this might not be for you.

In conclusion
Priced at around £30-£40, it's a very good dram to have around the house, as it is both enjoyable neat and handy for most whisky-based cocktails I can think of.
I think it's a great introductory dram for anyone who is tempted to join the wonderful and flavorful world of whisky.
