Nearly two years ago I went on a fantastic trip to South Korea and Japan. I had unforgettable experiences and I can't wait to share them with you. Took me a while to actually write something about it, I know , but sometimes it's hard for me to choose the best words.
I've wanted to go there for such a long time! I've always found the Korean and Japanese cultures, history and cuisines absolutely fascinating and yes, I do listen to some Kpop, I admit, and I do watch anime, but that's not why I went there, I promise (not that there's anything wrong with that).
Since I enjoy cooking and baking way beyond reasonable levels and I'm curious about experimenting with new recipes, it was only natural that (many many years ago) I stumbled upon a kimchi recipe. I was already familiar with this delicious fermented dish since I started being curious about South Korea and making it was the next step. I can't describe how amazing it felt to have the opportunity to go there and take part in a kimchi-making class.
I've always loved manga and anime and ever since i discovered One Piece a few years ago its been my favorite no matter what else i've watched. If I was going to see one thing and one thing only from the multitude of crazy attractions in Japan, that was going to be One Piece tower, no doubt.
Therefore, after working all the extra hours I had the money and time, I planned everything in advance and on my way I was! Well, our way actually, because I went there with my best friend who magically happens to share this dream as me. We had an amazing time and we can't wait to go there again. We've known each other for most of our lives and I'm sure that having the chance to share all the following experiences with her made the trip even better, so for now, my suggestion for you is to go on a trip either by yourself or with someone you know you always have fun with no matter what.
There are things I wished I knew before planning anything so I'll share them with you in case you ever want to visit the same places as me and need a few ideas.
The way we arranged to travel was actually Korea-Japan-Korea, so I'll divide it into the 3 corresponding parts.
We wanted to see both countries, I've never been on a ferry before and I don't like flying so we found a way to make things happen. Details to follow.
I don't know if you've ever had this feeling that you must do something so badly, it made you want to work many hours a day for a long long time, made you spend less time with your friends, less money on treats, less time taking care of other aspects of your life and made you plan for hours and hours, all so you can get there and live that dream. I hope you do know the feeling, and I truly hope you don't have to sacrifice too much or at all to do that.
