A Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in American ex-bourbon white oak casks
A bit about
Jura Bourbon Cask is produced on the Isle of Jura, one of Scotland's west coast islands, by the Isle of Jura Distillery Co.
Initially established in 1810 as the 'Small Isles Distillery', the distillery changed ownership a few times and closed until 1963 when it was rebuilt and started producing again under its current name.
This no-age-statement whisky was matured in American ex-bourbon white oak casks. It has a beautiful golden amber colour and 40% ABV.
Jura Bourbon Cask
Time to try it
Nose: Aromatic, generous, with a toffee, coconut and sweet oakiness,
Taste: Fruity (both fresh and dried fruits - plums and apricots) and oaky
Finish: Lightly spicy in the medium finish, with more oak, coconut and fresh fruit
For me, the Jura Bourbon cask is very balanced, with a lot of richness and a very light body. Overall I found this balance to be surprisingly pleasant, especially for a no-age-statement whisky.
Pros and Cons
It's a great entry-level whisky for anyone curious about richer whiskies, but not yet sure how to approach them.
As much as I enjoy the combination of flavours it has to offer, it can be a bit too oaky for some.
I've enjoyed it neat, as well as in old-fashioned cocktails and so far it hasn't disappointed.

In Conclusion
Priced at around £25-£30 on most UK websites, I think it's quite a good dram to enjoy on slightly colder days, well worth the price.
If I'm not enjoying it neat, I would pair the Jura Bourbon Cask with aged cheese and rosemary crackers.
