An English Single Malt and Single Estate Whisky
A bit about
The Masthouse Single Malt (Signature) is a product of the Copper Rivet Distillery which also makes gin and vodka (Dockyard). Located in Kent, the distillery opened in 2016 and uses local (Kentish) malted barley.
Aged in first-fill American Oak ex-bourbon barrels, this interesting whisky has a very pale colour and is bottled at 45% ABV.
Time to try it!
Nose: A lot of spirit on the nose, with lemon, green apple slice and oats
Taste: Same lemon/apple mix on the palate, citrusy and with a lot of cereal
Finish: Medium finish with vanilla and more citrus (lime zest)
This one is a super young spirit, and although the ABV can be felt, it is (strangely) quite gentle on the palate.
I'm not a big fan of drinking this one neat but I do enjoy it with a couple of drops of cold water or an ice cube, which helps the delicate flavours come out a bit more.
Pros and cons
It's great in a highball and I can imagine it being a great spirit to use in cocktails, but if you prefer sipping your whiskies, this might not be the ideal one for you.

In conclusion
The Masthouse Single Malt is an interesting English whisky to try whether neat or with a mixer.
A 50cl bottle is priced at around £45-50 on most UK websites.

I have only tried a few English whiskies so far - the Lakes Single Malt and Forest Whisky Blend 26 and Blend 29 so I was quite curious about the Masthouse Single Malt. It is certainly different from them in both style and flavour profile
As always, please drink responsibly.
