A highly fruity Single Malt Welsh Whisky.
A bit about
The Penderyn Legend is part of the Dragon Series, along with Celt and Myth.
It has won gold at a few international competitions such as World Whisky Masters (2015, 2018 and 2022), Concours Mondiale de Bruxelles (2018), and, most recently, double gold at the New York World Spirits Competition (2024).
The Penderyn Legend is finished in Madeira Casks, has 40% ABV, is non-chill-filtered and has a light natural colour.
Time to try it
Penderyn Legend, Single Malt
Nose: Very light and fresh, citrusy, a bit floral with a hint of sultanas
Taste: Slightly bitter with more citrusy and fruity tones
Finish: Medium/long-ish and somehow dry with quite a lot of lime zest, green apple slice and (fresh) floral aftertaste
Pros and Cons
Penderyn Legend is smooth on the palate, has no peat and has a very interesting citrusy aftertaste.
Although it was finished in Madeira Casks, it is still a no-age-statement whisky, so don't expect it to have the same depth and array of flavours as older whiskies.

In Conclusion
It's pretty much what it says on the box - floral and fruity and it does not disappoint.
Adding a few drops of water (or an ice cube) brings up more of the floral notes, sweetness and slightly more lime zest as well, particularly in the finish.
I have not tried making any cocktails with this one yet, but I'm sure it would be great in any summer cocktails.
Priced at around £30 on most UK websites, I think the Penderyn Legend is an enjoyable dram to sip.
