Updated: Nov 20

Penderyn Myth

A lightly sweet, super easy-to-drink Welsh Whisky.

A bit about

Part of the Penderyn Dragon Range, along with Celt and Legend, Penderyn Myth is a Single Malt Welsh Whisky, non-chill-filtered, with 40% ABV, and a natural pale colour.

Matured in ex-bourbon and rejuvenated oak casks, Myth has won gold at quite a number of international competitions: World Whisky Masters - The Spirits Business in 2018, 2020 and 2021, New York World Wine & Spirits Competition in 2021 and San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2022.

Time to try it

Penderyn Myth - Single Malt Welsh Whisky

Nose: Fresh, citrusy, with a hint of tropical fruit sweetness (maybe mango)

Taste: Very pleasantly sweet with a bit of lime peel zest towards the end. Very gentle on the palate

Finish: Medium, with more sweetness, vanilla and citrus

Pros and Cons

It's a super light-bodied, super easy-to-drink whisky. It's very delicate on the palate - a very smooth 40% ABV with no trace of peat.

I've tried this one neat and with a few drops of cold water and it's just as refreshing either way.

In Conclusion

Priced at around £35 on most UK websites, it's a great summery whisky for me, great for sipping. I think it would also be a great dram for any new whisky enthusiast.

If you want to give this dram a try, you can find the Penderyn Myth here.
