A Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky matured in Sherry Oak Casks.
A bit about
Founded in 1824, The Macallan Distillery is located in the middle of Scotland's Speyside region.
The Macallan 12 Oak Cask is part of the distillery's Sherry Oak Range, has 40% ABV and a beautiful and natural rich gold colour.
Before I start the review, I must admit, that I am generally a big fan of The Macallan, so I might be just a bit biased (I will try my best not to be)
Time to try it
Nose: Complex with vanilla, sultanas and a hint of oak
Palate: Medium-body, with a touch of sweetness, oaky, with dried fruit, vanilla, ginger and a bit of spice, especially towards the end
Finish: Long with more oak, dried fruit (prunes) and spice
Although it might lack some depth for some whisky enthusiasts, it is a very delicious whisky to sample.
Pros and Cons
It starts sweet and ends with a hint of dry sherry aftertaste.
While harbouring a good amount of flavours it still manages to be light, smooth and easy to drink.
Adding a few drops of cold water helps open up even more of the flavours and mellows down the finish. I have not tried making any cocktails with this dram and I don't think I'm tempted to, for me it's just too enjoyable as it is.

In Conclusion
I might be biased, but for me, the Macallan 12 Sherry Oak is a delicious dram to enjoy no matter the season. I usually prefer it neat or with a few drops of cold water.
Priced at around £80-90 on most UK websites, it is a great whisky to try.
