A super flavorful and sweet bourbon whiskey.
Watkins is an American brand that has been around since 1868. Known for their spices, extracts and bitters, they launched both the Cinnamon Apple and Spiced Orange Bourbons in 2023.
Watkins Cinnamon Apple Bourbon Whiskey is made with Watkins Cinnamon and natural apple flavour. This flavoured whiskey was bottled in Kentucky and has a 35% ABV.
Time to try it!
Nose: As soon as I poured it into the glass the smell of green apples filled the air. For me it's more towards apple lollipop or bubblegum rather than homemade pie, but fresh green apples nonetheless. Some cinnamon is noticeable, but not as much as the apple.
Palate: It has quite a bit of burn on the palate, sweet, with the apple flavouring barely distinguishable in the taste compared to how strong it is in the smell.
Finish: Medium finish with more sugar sweetness, apple and cinnamon, smooth to begin with but quite spicy towards the end

For me, this one is a bit too sweet if sampled neat, but it's quite pleasant if mixed with ginger beer, soda or even ginger ale. I have not tried this yet, but I can imagine it working wonders in a hot toddy.
